I cannot believe Dance Marathon is around the corner! This Saturday (!!!), I will be dancing 14 hours straight FTK (for the kids). Last year, I participated in Dance Marathon and it was life changing. Yep. It was an experience I cannot even begin to do justice to. And honestly, I get choked up talking about it.
For those who don't know, DM is an event to raise money for our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. And last year, we raised just over a half a million dollars!! We danced our butts off, and by the end.... I was crawling into bed! Y'all, it was exhausting. Fun. Emotional. And completely. Totally. One-hundred percent worth it.
I DM for my childhood friend and guardian angel, Amanda. She was the spunkiest, most lively human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She was a soccer buddy, and good friend that lost a long battle with Leukemia while in high school. She continues to inspire everyone she touched (like seriously y'all... I know people who are becoming nurses and doctors in her honor!). And since I cannot stand the sight of blood, I do this for her. I do this with her.
So when my feet start to hurt? And I want to sit down? I think of Amanda, and I know she's holding me up. Helping me push through. I miss her everyday, except for on Dance Marathon day. Because during DM, in those 14 hours, she is right there dancing next to me <3
