| “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough." -Unknown This quote has been my motivation over the past year. Whenever I needed a little nudge to help me #goforit, I would repeat those wise words in my head. I even had it as my iphone background for a constant reminder to push myself. I guess it worked because, well… here I am writing my first ever blog post #isanybodyoutthere?!? It’s O.K. to be a little scared….. but don’t let that fear cripple you from chasing your dreams. Helpful tips when #dreaming: Tip #1 Dream- Think about your dream. And not just for a brief moment, but in vivid detail. Yes, it may sound odd… but you need to V-I-S-U-A-L-I-Z-E. Did you know that when athletes take time to envision themselves (in a positive light) before a game, they are more likely to do well (or what they envisioned)?! Our minds are an AMAZING tool that can be used to our advantage. If you picture the motion of your jump shot swishing through the net, your chances of scoring actually increases! Of course talent is important, but training your mind will also do wonders. This knowledge can be transferred to anything in life. Picture yourself confident in that important job interview, or even simply imagine yourself having a great day before leaving your bed each morning. Tip#2 Write- Write your dreams down someplace where you look everyday (Refrigerator, bed-side-table, car). Be specific. The constant reminder will help focus your mind. Tip#3 Time- It is super important to be honest with yourself in this step. You are not going to become the CEO right out of college, nor should you walk blindly hoping your dreams will happen someday…. You.Have.To.Plan. Ask yourself if your goal is attainable and what steps need to be taken. Set mini short-term goals that will lead up to your dream. Tip#4 Fly- You only have one life on Earth to chase your dreams. My mom has always told me to ask myself "why NOT me?". Go make YOUR dreams come to life. Do you ever need a little reminder to #dreambig? What are your dreams?! ~pinch, pinch theclassycrab~ |
