This weekend was one for the books. I participated in USC's Dance Marathon, where I danced for 14 hours straight. No, you don't need your eyes checked. 14. hours. straight.
We danced FTK (for the kids). All our fundraising was donated to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Columbia, SC. It is the largest freestanding children’s hospital in the state, serving more than 80,000 children each year. It was an amazing experience I wouldn't change for the world. I felt like I was actually making a difference to these sick kids.
During the course of 14 hours, I made molded new friendships, listened to first hand stories from families at the hospital, and danced my little heart out!! At one point towards the end of the evening I thought I was going have to sit down.. we were not allowed to sit at all! My feet were so sore by the end of the night I wanted to chop. them. off. What kept me standing? The kids. I kept going because it was FTK and their families. It was such a rewarding experience that was so worth it.

I made cards for sick children, and even got a chance to make one for this little guy who was on my hospital bracelet. (Every dancer got a child's name on a bracelet) Every time I was feeling exhausted beyond belief, I looked down at David's story and realized my suffering is minuscule compared to what these brave kids endure.
We raised over a half a million dollars! I was so proud of everyone who came together to make this possible. I danced for all the kids who couldn't, and especially in remembrance of my good friend, Amanda. I can't wait for next year to dance FTK and their amazing families. My heart was simply overflowing with love.
Have you ever danced FTK?!
