Not only is it Friday (!!!), but the Halloween celebrations are commencing. Yesterday I helped pass out candy to little munchkins in their adorable costumes (an early Halloween trick-or-treat celebration). Parents coaching their young-ings to say "thank you" and only take one piece of candy. And ohh, the daunting decision of picking out the best piece of candy (as if they were picking out what college to attend, sheesh!). The cuteness was unreal! Sigh. I cannot believe I was once in those teeny tiny costumes, ringing the doorbell with an angelic smile wrapped from ear-to-ear. Okay, now I feel really old for saying that!
Halloween has always been magical holiday in my family. My mom would have a neighborhood Halloween-party-cookout before we went trick-or-treating. Ohh the (great!) memories. I loved that my family hosted every year. It's something I hope to do someday with kiddos of my own.
I would always go trick-or-treating with my two best (guy) buddies (we were always together) along with twenty-some other kids and parents. Me, Nick, and Zach would race from one house to the next. Leaving everyone in the dust because, well, we needed to get as much candy as humanly possible (duh!). Once, and only once, our pillow cases were busting-at-the-seams our trio would trek back and spill out all our candy. And the best part? We would count who had the most, and would then proceed to trade (and eat) tons of candy the rest of the night!!
I could go on-and-on about the fun we always had, especially on Halloween. Man, it seems like yesterday! Feeling a little nostalgic! Here's the Halloween Friday Five:
