I am finished my last fall semester. Ever. I have one more semester left. ONE! When did this happen?! I cannot believe I will be graduating in May. My life of classes and exams and studying will be traded in for work and meetings and business trips. If you were to ask me four years ago if I would make it through... I would have laughed. I never thought I would be able to accomplish so much. And looking back, I wish I had a little more faith in myself! In 3 easy steps, you can too.
YOU ARE CAPABLE OF AMAZING THINGS
YOU ARE CAPABLE OF AMAZING THINGS
1. Start believing in yourself again
Remember when we were kids and thought we could be anything? Do anything? We thought we were destined for greatness. Heck, we were already great. And nothing could get in our way. The faith we had in ourselves. We could be a doctor. Or a firefighter. Or a superhero. Anything. The confidence that radiated throughout our soul. Was unstoppable. Powerful. Unconditional. Never fleeting. How incredible that would be to get back? Channel that childhood faith in yourself.
2. Don't let failure paralyze you
There will be obstacles. Maybe you'll fail your finance class you spent countless hours trying to understand. You thought you'd have to drop out of college (true story, y'all). But you know what I learned from that? I had to get back up. Just because I fell, didn't mean I had to lie down forever. Get. Up. And try again. I did just that. I retook that finance class I thought I would never understand and ended up with a B+. Which is no small task! And you know what? If I would have let that hiccup stop me, I would not be a senior. I would not be graduating (!!!) in May. I would not be onto amazing things after graduation. I did not let a failure define me. I learned from it and moved on. Failure is only as paralyzing as you make it, choose to walk away stronger from it.
3. Work hard... And then 100 times harder
Your dreams won't just happen. Won't be dropped on your doorstep in a dainty red bow. It just... doesn't work like that. You have to work for it. So put in the time. Work hard. And then when you think you have nothing left in you, work even harder. Playing D1 lacrosse in college didn't just happen to me. I worked long and hard for it. I would train in the morning when everyone else was asleep. And I would run at night. Any free time I had was spent with my lacrosse stick. Wall ball. Practicing my shot. Learning tricks. I made it my mission to play D1 lacrosse. I had to work hard. And then 100 times harder to make my dream a reality.
You can do it. You can graduate college. Or play a college sport. Or pass your finance class. Or land that dream job. Have a little faith in yourself. And then put in the time. You are capable of amazing things.
